A founder from Omaha came to me during a season of pure exhaustion. He wasn’t failing. In fact, his business was expanding faster than ever. But every time he closed a deal, every time he completed a project, every time his team celebrated a win he felt nothing. He whispered, “Isaiah, I’m so tired that even victories feel heavy.”
I asked him when he last rested. Not slept rested. He laughed a little, not because it was funny, but because he suddenly realized how long it had been. He had built an identity around being the one who never stops, never slows down, never sits still. Nebraska culture praises hard work, and rightly so but sometimes it twists into a belief that rest is irresponsible.
I told him a truth that took a while to sink in: “Rest isn’t the absence of work. Rest is the fuel that makes your work matter.” He stopped speaking. Something inside him shifted.
Over the next month, we built rest back into his life small pockets at first, then larger spaces. He took walks again. Ate dinners without a phone in his hand. Went to bed earlier. Listened to music instead of podcasts. Let silence speak. And slowly, he woke upspiritually, emotionally, mentally.
One morning he said, “Isaiah… I feel joy again.” That’s the moment I knew he was healing.
Nebraska entrepreneurs don’t burn out because they’re weak. They burn out because they try to carry strength without allowing space for restoration. The land itself teaches us the soil must rest before the harvest.
If you’re tired in a way sleep no longer fixes, I’d be honored to walk with you as you rebuild your strength.
