A visionary from Scottsbluff came to me looking defeated. He wasn’t out of ideas. He was out of permission. He told me most people in his life told him to “be realistic,” “tone it down,” “play it safe,” or “stop thinking so big.” After hearing that long enough, he started believing them. His dreams shrank. His plans became small. His confidence dimmed. He said, “Isaiah, I don’t want to disappoint anyone.”
I asked him something that made him stop talking midsentence: “When did you decide other people get to determine the limits of your calling?” His eyes filled with tears. Sometimes the truth is sharp enough to break chains inside a person.
Over the next few sessions, he slowly rediscovered the dream God had planted in him years agothe one he had buried to make others comfortable. He remembered the passion he felt before fear took the wheel. He remembered the vision he saw clearly before others clouded it with their doubts. And with every step he took back toward that dream, his strength returned.
He told me weeks later, “I thought dreaming was irresponsible. Now I see that burying my dream was the real disobedience.” Nebraska needs visionaries. It needs people who see beyond the horizon, who build what doesn’t yet exist, who follow the whispers God places in their hearts.
Dreaming is not arrogance. It is obedience.
If you feel like your dream has been on pause, I’d be honored to help you step back into the vision God created you to carry.
